WHICH TYPE OF CYCLIST ARE YOU?

Bicycle tours are increasing in popularity. A bike tour is a fantastic way to travel while visiting a foreign country, be it a few days or a couple of weeks.

How amazing is it to ride a full week in the Dolomites? Or through the hilly vineyards of Piedmont and still have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine? But before jumping on your bike, it’s a good idea to evaluate your level of fitness and your abilities in order to find the perfect tour.

The questions we have to ask ourselves before deciding which destination to select are Could I ride that tour every day?” or How much training do I need before I start my tour?”

But overall, the first question should be “what type of cyclist am I?

Here are some categories where we can identify ourselves.

E-Bike

A new entry category, suitable for those who want to enjoy a cycling holiday with a significant other or a group of friends without thinking too much about the fatigue. E-bike tourism is increasing more and more and it is the best choice for those who want to discover a new, fun and ecological way to travel.
Tours from beginner to intermediate levels and self-guided tours are the most appropriate.

Beginner

You can consider yourself a beginner cyclist if you use the bike (any sort) just occasionally, mainly on flat roads or bicycle paths, with several stops to cover 10-15 miles. An easy and enjoyable tour is the best option for you.
For example, the tour in Puglia (South of Italy) is a good option while experiencing the Italian culture and tasting amazing food.

Lower Intermediate

A lower intermediate is a cyclist that uses the bike more frequently, sometimes climbing easy short hills (couple of miles with easy grade), able to ride few days in a row  covering 15 to 30 miles.
Why not try a tour in Piedmont ? This could be the perfect choice to enjoy the bike without too much effort while having the chance to make amazing and authentic memories.

Intermediate

The intermediate cyclist is a rider who uses the bike more regularly, 2-3 times a week, able to cover up to 50 miles with a good elevation gain while having confidence on two wheels.

As you improve your fitness, you can try some itinerant tours like the Barolo to Derthona tour (with a great wine experience) or organize a self-guided tour with the help from our expert guides.
